Elemental Hedonism

Elemental Hedonism is based on the cultural observation of alternative hedonistic lifestyle practices, aimed at wealthy parts of the population who can afford the objectified luxurious to wellness and health through the consumption of expensive spa treatments, carefully marketed supplements and holistic health products, boutique wellness clubs and elite fitness classes. Elemental hedonism provides an alternative path to wellbeing and health, through the path of the senses and the elements, through natural materials and light. Questioning what is luxury, and what qualities of materiality create the feeling of wellness, the collection is a study recreating the feeling without the resource extraction associated with it. The aim is to make health and wellbeing accessible by creating the materials for these spaces in a low cost, low input way, using only upgraded materials that are commonly wasted in the modern household.
